Lillie Dawson Herring

Goldsboro – Mrs. Lillie Dawson Herring, 84, of 624 Sheridan Forest Road, died Sunday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Lee Ashton Dawson, Sr. and Ruth Grant Dawson and was married to the late Leslie Jack Herring. Mrs. Herring was a retired seamstress with Blue Bell Inc. and was a member of St. John Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wade Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Herring is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Jay Early of Cary and Cindy and Jay Minchew of Goldsboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Darwin and Betsy Herring of Goldsboro; daughters-in-law, Jessie Herring Potter and Gail Herring of Goldsboro; brothers, Lee Ashton Dawson, Jr. and Derwood Dawson, both of Goldsboro; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Leslie Douglas Herring, Louis Allen Herring and Jack Warren Herring.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at Seymour Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. and other times at her residence.
