Clayro Jackson


Goldsboro - Mr. Clayro Jackson, 79, of 616 Ridge Road, died Sunday at Sunbridge Rehabilitation and Care in Mount Olive.

A native of Sampson County, he was the son of the late Henry Jackson and Ada Rose Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a market manager with A&P Grocery Store for 37 years and later worked as a Sheriff’s Deputy with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. He was a charter member of Jefferson United Methodist Church and served the church in many capacities.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Jefferson United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with honors by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Celestine Pate Jackson; a son, Clayro Franklin Jackson and wife Judy of Faison; a daughter, Ada Boyd of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Page Jackson Grady and husband Chad of Seven Springs, Cynthia Louise Jackson of Faison and Elouise Boyd Casey of Goldsboro; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Page Grady and Kenneth Clayro Grady; his brothers, Bedford Jackson of Wilmington and Eldon Jackson of Regalwood; and a special friend, Bailey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jefferson United Methodist Church, 1101 N. Jefferson Street, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his residence.
