Marie Aycock Johnson


Pikeville – Mrs. Marie Aycock Johnson, 72, of 1219 Buck Swamp Road, died Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A native of Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Daniel Aycock and Annie Mae Daniel Aycock. Mrs. Johnson taught school for 44 years serving at Rosewood High School and retired from the business department of Wayne Community College. She was a 1951 graduate of East Carolina University and attended Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Johnson was also a member of the Woodmen of the World.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Billy Yawn officiating.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Dee Johnson and sisters, Mildred A. Murry of Virginia Beach, VA and Marceline A. Moore of Washington.

Memorials may be made to the Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 1283 Union Grove Church Road, Fremont, NC .

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
