Charles Donald Kimbrell


Lt. Col.(ret) Charles Donald Kimbrell (Don), 49, loving husband of Deborah Kimbrell went home to be with his Savior on Saturday, March 2, 2002 following a motor vehicle accident.

Don was born in Jasper Alabama November 4, 1952 to Charles and Inez Kimbrell. Don entered the US Air Force in 1977 and proudly served his country until his retirement in 1998. He was a 1980 graduate of the University of Alabama and earned an MBA from Emory University. Don was a former member of Westside Baptist Church in Jasper, Alabama and a current member of Blackjack Free Will Baptist Church in Grantham, NC. He also attended Pinewood Presbyterian and The Lord's Table in Goldsboro, NC. He co-founded Goldsboro based Associated Parcel Service, Inc. and served as VP and Chief Operating Officer.

Don, a loving husband and father is survived by his wife of 20 years, Debbie, three sons, Michael 18, Christopher 17 and Donnie 15. His mother Inez Kimbrell of Jasper, Alabama, three sisters Kathy Kimbrell, Sharon Gilbert and Deb Frazier. Mother and father-in-law Gene and Barbara Stone of Goldsboro, four brother-in-laws Nolan Gilbert and Tim Frazier of Alabama, John Earnest of Goldsboro and Ron Stone of Minnesota. Two sister-in-laws Karen Earnest of Goldsboro and Kim Stone of Minnesota. Five nieces, five nephews. Don was godfather to one great-niece and one great-nephew.

Family members will receive friends at the home of John and Karen Earnest, Don's sister-in-law, at 6065 Wayne Memorial Drive, Pikeville, NC Monday through Thursday night. Funeral services will be handled by Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro and officated by Reverend John Earnest of The Lord's Table and Dr. Frank Day of Pinewood Presbyterian. Visitation is Wednesday night from 7pm to 9pm, funeral is Thursday at 2pm. Burial, with full military honors, will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetary in Goldsboro. Honorary Pallbearers will be his three sons, nephews Lee Singleton of Goldsboro, Matt and Nathan Frazier of Jasper, Alabama and family friend Drew Beirise of Goldsboro.

Don will always be remembered as a devoted husband, dedicated father and much loved member of his extended family.
