Jack Morris Kornegay

Goldsboro – Jack Morris Kornegay, Sr., 84, of 2003 E. Mulberry
Street, died Wednesday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. He was the
owner of Jack M. Kornegay Bookkeeping and Accounting Service and
Jack M. Kornegay Real Estate.
A native of Wayne County, he was the son of late Will Kornegay and
Effie Mae Lewis Kornegay. He was a lifetime member of Wayne Masonic
Lodge #112 A.F.&A.M., member of the Elk Lodge #139 B.P.O.E. and was
a longtime member of Pythian Lodge. Mr. Kornegay was also a member
of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where he served as treasurer.
He was the former owner and operator of Wayne Motel and Restaurant
and Paul’s Restaurant at the Day’s Inn.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Willow Dale
Cemetery with the Reverends Charles Morrison and Bob Bame
officiating.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Matthews Kornegay; daughter, Connie
Kirby-Hare and husband, Jimmy of Goldsboro; son, Jack Morris
Kornegay, Jr. of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Don Jenkins, Jr. of
Pikeville, Amanda K. Black and husband, Keith of Raleigh, Jack
Morris Kornegay III and wife, Elizabeth of Savannah, GA; and sister,
Katie Hughes of Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends Thursday at Seymour Funeral Home
from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and other times at the residence.
