Ruth Corbett Kornegay


Goldsboro – Mrs. Ruth Corbett Kornegay, 83, of the Grantham Community died Monday at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Mount Olive.

A native of Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late James Samuel Corbett and Alice Crocker Corbett and was the widow of Milford Kornegay. Mrs. Kornegay was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church.

A celebration of her life will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Falling Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Varner officiating. Burial will follow in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Kornegay is survived by her daughters, Theresa Pittman and husband James of Wilson and Ellen Therrell and husband William of Dudley; her sons, J.Ray Kornegay and wife Betsy of Windsor, Douglas Kornegay of Winter Park, Florida, Linwood Kornegay and wife Donna of Dudley, Larry Kornegay of Grantham and Roger Kornegay and wife Carolyn of Grantham; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Catherine Creech of Clayton, Mildred Kornegay of Goldsboro and Edna Wadsworth of Selma.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Falling Creek Baptist Church, 499 Falling Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or the American Diabetes Association, 2315A Sunset Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Ellen and William Therrell, 104 Lake Ave., Dudley.
