Teresa Johnson Kornegay

Goldsboro – Mrs. Teresa Johnson Kornegay, 44, of 120 Adler Lane, passed away Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to Howard S. Johnson and Ruby M. Johnson.

She was employed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Department of Justice, at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. She truly enjoyed her work and was a beloved member of the Bureau of Prison’s family. She loved spending time at Lake Gaston with her family and friends. Her heart warming smile will live on forever.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Johnny Daniel (Danny) Kornegay; a son, Blake Aaron; one sister, Vickie J. List and husband Jim of Wake Forest; two brothers, Michael W. Johnson of Conway, Arkansas and Steven A. Johnson and wife Connie of Seven Springs. She has five nephews, two nieces, three great nephews and two great nieces.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby M. Johnson and her brother, Howard W. Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, Teresa requested that memorial contributions be made to the Blake A. Kornegay College Fund, (checks payable to Danny Kornegay), 120 Adler Lane, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

The family will gather Saturday, February 8, 2003 from 1-2 p.m. to receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro. Rev. Lynn Horne and Rev. Reginald Bowens will officiate.
