Rayford Roy Lanier

Goldsboro – Mr. Rayford Roy Lanier, Jr., 49, of 170 W. Hill Street, died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Rayford Roy Lanier, Sr. and Eloise Potts Lanier. An avid fisherman and boater, Mr. Lanier was the co-owner and barber with the Upper Cut in Downtown Goldsboro. He was a graduate of East Carolina University.

Funeral services will be Friday at 4 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ferrell Hardison officiating. Burial will follow at Emmaus Baptist Church.

Mr. Lanier is survived by his wife, Sharon Stokes Lanier; a son, Rayford Roy Lanier III; a daughter, Ashley Nicole Lanier; a step-son, Troy Tyson Benton; his sisters, Bettie Jean Cooper of Raleigh and Judy Lanier Lambert of Dunn; and brothers, Rudy James Lanier of Sneads Ferry and Leonard Emerson Lanier of Austin, TX; his mother-in-law, Mary Ann T. Stokes; a special cousin, Richard Lanier and wife, Christy; a brother-in-law, Timothy Stokes of Penn.; a sister-in-law, Deborah Stout of Wendell; and special friends, Gene and Hilda Allen.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:30-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his residence.
