Lillian Edgerton Lewis

Goldsboro – Lillian Edgerton Lewis, 88, of 807 Fedelon Trail, died Sunday at her home with her family.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late David Earl Edgerton and Inez Sutton Edgerton and was a registered nurse. Lillian was a graduate of Woodard Herring School of Nursing in Wilson and was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps. She was a member of the Belfast Extension Homemaker Club and was a volunteer leader with the Four-H. Lillian was also a member of the Belfast, State and National Grange.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Goldsboro Friends Meeting, where she was a member. A private burial will be held at Wayne Memorial Park.

Lillian is survived by her husband, Gordon H. Lewis; a son, Billy Lewis, and wife Kathy of Lucama; her daughters, Anne Lewis of Round Hill, VA and Betsy Lewis Snow, and husband Curt of Greenville, SC; her grandchildren, Joseph Gordon Lewis Volk, Robert Lewis, Josh Lewis, Lewis Snow; one great-grandchild; her brother, Alvin Edgerton of Wilmington; and her sister, Annie Ruth E. Johnson of Goldsboro.

She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Herbert Edgerton, William Harold Edgerton, Ralph Edgerton, Elizabeth Edgerton and Lorena Therkildsen.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the North Carolina Nurses Foundation, Lillian Edgerton Lewis Nurses Scholarship, 103 Enterprise Street, P.O. Box 12025, Raleigh, NC 27605.

The family will receive friends at their home at 807 Fedelon Trail on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m.
