Laverne McCoy

Dudley - Laverne McCoy, 45, of 3366 Arrington Bridge Road, died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Mobile, Alabama, she was the daughter of Dorothy Mixon Davis of New Jersey and Sim Douglas of Alabama. She was employed with Kennedy Home of Kinston.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Mrs. McCoy is survived by her husband, Ronald McCoy; her daughters, Yurlonda McCants, Lakisha McCants, Shermeca McCants and Inesha McCants, all of New Jersey; three brothers, Leonard Douglas of Oklahoma, Stacey Davis and Victor Davis, both of New Jersey; three grandchildren, Yalliyaha McCants, Tyneesha Crutchfield and Deshaune White; three sisters-in-law, Angeline Grady and Annie McCoy, both of North Carolina and Mildred McCoy of New York; a brother-in-law, H. B. Grady; two dear friends, Jessie Hardy and Earnest Singley both of New Jersey and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Daisy Lee Mixon and a son, Jermaine McCants.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Seymour Funeral Home.
