Perrye Smith McDowell

Perrye Smith McDowell, 82, died Friday in Goldsboro.
Formerly from Virginia Beach, VA, she was the daughter of the late Norborne Gee Smith, Sr. and Alice Dortch Smith and was married to the late Edward Davis McDowell. Mrs. McDowell was very active in the revitalization of the Ghent area in Norfolk, VA and was an active member of the Nature Conservancy in Virginia. She was also a lifetime member of the Porsche Club of America. Mrs. McDowell attended Peace College and was a graduate of Longwood College in Farmville, VA.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery with Rev. Charles Morrison officiating.

Mrs. McDowell is survived by her brother, Norborne Smith, Jr. of Goldsboro; a niece, Perrye Smith of Goldsboro; a nephew, Gee Smith and wife, Jeannette of Bryn Mawr, PA, three great-nephews, Westley Dean, Tripp Dail and Gee Smith and two great-nieces, Lindley Smith and Carter Smith.

She was also preceded in death by a niece, Alleson Perrye Stokes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norborne G. Smith, Jr.
