John D. Medlin, Sr.

Goldsboro – Mr. John Dawkins Medlin, Sr., 80, died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Hamlet, NC, he was the son of the late Frank L. and Ruby Dawkins Medlin and was married to the late Bobbie Helms Medlin. A WWII veteran of the U.S. Army Air Signal Corps, he was a graduate of Hamlet High School and was retired from Southern Bell. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, Goldsboro Host Lions Club, Telephone Pioneers and Goldsboro Golf Club.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00 PM at St. Luke United Methodist Church with Rev. Earl Dulaney officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.

He is survived by his daughter, Bobbie M. Grose of Burlington, NC; a son, John Medlin, Jr. of Falls Church, Virginia; three sisters, Marguerite Thornton, Carole Sears and Frankie Zwirblia, all of Goldsboro; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
