Ina Mae Parks Mercer

Goldsboro – Mrs. Ina Mae Parks Mercer, 89, of the Sterling House, died Tuesday at her home.

A native of Bladen County, she was the daughter of the late David Alexander Parks and Nannie Lee East Parks and was married to the late Walter Julian Mercer who died in 1995. Mrs. Mercer was a former school teacher with the public school system and was an avid quilter and involved with many Quilting Clubs. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and is a member of the Nazareth Presbyterian Church in Moore, SC. While in Spartanburg, SC, Mrs. Mercer and her family owned and operated The Art Gallery.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Gary Bailey officiating.

She is survived by her son, Walter Julian Mercer, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC; daughters, Bettie Mercer Easley of Beaufort, Linda Mercer Gray and husband, A. Downing of Pensacola, FL, and Carolyn Mercer Grant and husband, Clifton E. of Goldsboro; brothers, Joseph Parks and wife, Lillian of Rocky Mount and Hugh Parks and wife, Merle of Kinston; a sister, Martha P. Shuffler of Raleigh; grandchildren, Boyd Mercer and wife, Lisa, Bart Mercer and wife, Traci, Brett Mercer and wife, Jennifer, Meredith Larson and husband, Rob, Shane Grant and wife, Jill, Brandon Grant and wife, Amy, and Kenneth Grant; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Grant, 114 Kelly Drive, Goldsboro.
