Peggy Lewis Merritt

Goldsboro - Peggy Lewis Merritt, 64, of 124 Dallas Road, died Thursday at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of Louise Parker Lewis of Goldsboro and the late Joel Clifton Lewis.  She was a retired school teacher with 21 years of service with the Goldsboro City School and Wayne County Public School system.  Mrs. Merritt also operated Merritts Greenhouse for 25 years.  She was a member of Adamsville Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. M.O. Sears officiating.  Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

In addition to her mother, Mrs. Merritt is survived by her husband, Johnny F. Merritt; son, John Michael Merritt of Chapel Hill; and several aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends Friday at Seymour Funeral Home from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and other times at 151 Dallas Road.
