Sarah May Pyles Miller



Goldsboro – Mrs. Sarah May Pyles Miller, 94, a resident of the Brian Center died on Tuesday, June 10, 2003.

Mrs. Miller was born in Dekalb, Missouri, and was the daughter of the late John James Pyles and Jessie May Pyles. She was a graduate of the University of Missouri and taught school in Panama where she met her late husband, Walter Warren Miller.

She retired to Goldsboro in 1971 and over the years, she was active in St. Paul United Methodist Church, the Salvation Army, the Women’s Auxiliary of Wayne Memorial Hospital and Delta Kappa Gamma.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cissy and Tommy Bell of Goldsboro; her son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Linda Miller of Houston, Texas; her sister, Dorothy Gordon of Tucson, Arizona; a granddaughter, three grandsons and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her caring family at the Brian Center.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Dr. Billy Seate and Rev. Bob Bame officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Heavener, Oklahoma.

The family will be at the home of Cissy and Tommy Bell at 603 Dellwood Place, Goldsboro.
