Andy Curtis Mitchell


Pikeville – Mr. Andy Curtis Mitchell, 44, 1296 N.C. Hwy. 581 North, died Friday at the North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of Inez Batten Mitchell of Goldsboro and the late Andrew Ralph Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was the owner and operator of Mitchell’s Body Shop and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was also a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. Mr. Mitchell was a gospel singer with the Psalmsmen and had also sung with gospel groups, Canaanland and Legacy.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Goldsboro with Rev. Ferrell Hardison and Rev. Jeff Toler officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Eloise B. Mitchell; his son, Andy “Drew” Mitchell, Jr. of Pikeville; his sisters, Linda Everhart and husband, Richard of Goldsboro and Joyce Murdock and husband, Chuck of Goldsboro; his nieces and nephew, Jennifer E. Edwards, Richard Everhart, Stephanie Murdock and Kimberly Murdock.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Wayne County Relay for Life, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church and other times at 1296 NC Hwy. 581 North, Pikeville.
