Ruby Price Mitchell
Goldsboro – Mrs. Ruby Price Mitchell, 87, died Tuesday morning at the Brian Center. She was the first resident of the Brian Center almost eleven years ago.
A native of Duplin County, Mrs. Mitchell was the daughter of the late William Walter Price and Addie Lavicey P. Price and was married to the late Paul Erie Mitchell. She was a teacher with the first Head Start Progam in Wayne County, worked with the Sales Department at J.C. Penny’s and was a secretary with State Farm Insurance Company. Mrs. Mitchell was a graduate of the Crumpler Secretarial School and attended East Carolina Teacher’s College, Greensboro College and Wayne Community College. She was a member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church where she served as a certified lay speaker, taught Sunday School for 40 years, was president of the United Methodist Women for 12 years, was director of the Youth Choir and the Adult Choir, served on the Administrative Board and was church historian for many years.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. T.R. Miller and Rev. Bill Crowder officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home of Jimmy and Romona Mitchell, 1702 N. Berkeley Blvd., Goldsboro. Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Pineview Cemetery, Seven Springs, NC.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by two sons, James William Mitchell and his wife, Ramona and Nelson Erie Mitchell and his wife, Edith of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Clint Mitchell, Mike Mitchell, Steve Mitchell and Marla Arrington; and four great-grandchildren, Emily Mitchell, Austin Mitchell, Macey Arrington and Erin Mitchell.
