Mary Proctor Norman

Mary Proctor Norman, formerly of Williamsburg, Va. and Lakeland, Fl., died January 14, 2004, at the age of 91 at Britthaven of Snow Hill.

She was the loving wife of the late Joseph L. Norman, Sr. They were married January 1, 1933, in Ames, Iowa. She was the daughter of Dr. Clark Matthew Proctor and Henrietta Butcher Proctor, devoted mother to her five sons and daughters-in-law: James H. Norman and wife Diana of Atlanta Ga., David B. Norman and wife Sandra of Rome, Ga., John C. Norman and wife Ruth of Wilmington De., Joe L. Norman, Jr. and wife Nancy of Goldsboro, NC, and Paul M. Norman and wife Denise of St. Louis, Mo., nine grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.

Born October 1, 1912 in Ames Iowa, she attended both Stephens College and Iowa State University with a major in home economics.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 17, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church with Rev. Frank Russ presiding. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of one’s choice. The family will greet friends following the service.
