Katherine Gainey Overman

Clinton – Mrs. Katherine Gainey Overman, 82, of 2476 Sharecake Road, died Monday at her home.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late W.R. Gainey and Betty Scott Gainey and was married to the late Roland Bryan Overman. Mrs. Overman was a member of Providence United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be Wedensday at 11 a.m. at Providence United Methodist Church with Rev. Arthur Warren and Rudy Peedin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Overman is survived by her son, Roland Bryan Overman, Jr. and wife, Glenda Sullivan Overman of Rosewood; daughters, Bettie O. Godwin and husband, Tom of Clinton and Diane O. Brooks and husband, Richard of Raleigh; a brother, Albert Gainey of Seven Springs; and four grandchildren, Thomas Godwin, Jr., Scott Godwin, Christopher Overman and Michelle Overman.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Providence United Methodist Church, 202 Providence Church Rd., Goldsboro, NC 27534 or the Sampson County Rescue Squad, Clinton, NC 28328.

Pallbearers will be Harold Overman, Danny Mitchell, Bill Montague, Borden Weeks, Larry Jinnette, and Lewis Herring. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jan Price, Rand Montague, Benny Price, David Overman, Ralph Jinnette, Bobby Jackson and Robert Mitchell.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at Providence United Methodist Church from 7-9 p.m. and other times at the home of Bryan and Glenda Overman, 694 Riverbend Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or the home of Bettie and Tom Godwin, 2476 Sharecake Road, Clinton, NC 28328.
