Osborne Parks

Goldsboro – Mr. Osborne Parks, 84, of 2953 U.S. 13 North, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Joe P. Parks and Adeline Gurley Parks. Mr. Parks was a retired swine producer in the Hood Swamp Community and had served as a volunteer fireman for the Saulston Fire Department. He was the former owner of the U.S. 117 Truck Stop and was a former part owner of two moving storage companies. Mr. Parks was a member of Northview Baptist Church, where he served as an Elder and Trustee. He was a member of the Wayne County Granges and the Wayne County Farm Bureau. Mr. Parks was past president of the Wayne County Sunday School Association and worked with our area 4-H clubs in Wayne County. He was serving on the Board of Directors at WHFL Television Station and served as chairman for 10 years. Mr. Parks served as the past Mayor pro-tem for the town board of Emerald Isle.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Purvis and Rev. Steve Gillette officiating. Entombment will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Parks is survived by his wife, Doris Neal Parks; his son, Glenn Parks of Winston-Salem; his grandsons, Glenn Todd Parks of Iowa and Kurtis Holliday of Winston-Salem; his great-grandson, Wesley Taylor Parks; his sisters, Mable Osborne of Pinehurst, Virginia Uzzell of Goldsboro, Josephine Webb of Morehead City, Pat Ingram of Wilson, and Betty Moore of Raleigh; and his brother, Sammy Parks of Goldsboro.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Ann Parks and two brothers, Clifton Earl “Fez” Parks and Carlton Parks.

The family will greet friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
