Mantha Jones Parnell

Pikeville - Mantha Jones “Pat” Parnell, 76, of 617
Vail Rd., passed away peacefully at Wayne Memorial Hospital with her
family at her side on Wednesday, October 13, 2004.
Mrs. Parnell was born in Wayne County to the late Nathan Jones and
Lula Westbrook Jones. She had been a faithful member of Pleasant
Grove Free Will Baptist Church for many years. Mrs. Parnell had
worked with Strickland Insurance and Realty. The love of Pat’s life
was God, family and friends. Even during her declining health she
never gave up or let go of her firm belief in the power of prayer.
A service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m.
at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Stallings and Rev.
Alvin Keener officiating. Burial will follow in Pikeville Cemetery.
Pat has been devoted for 57 years to her husband, Alton Parnell. She
also leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Becky Glover and
husband, David of Pikeville and Renee Futrelle and husband, George
of Grantham; her son, Dennis Parnell and wife, Kathryne of
Pikeville; her grandchildren, Kelly Finch and husband, Edwin, Mindy
Glover, Samantha Futrelle, Meredith Futrelle, Michael Parnell and
wife, Jenny and Susan Harts and husband, Derek; and her
great-grandchildren, Aaron Parnell, Lyndsey Parnell, Cassie Parnell
and Elizabeth Harts. She is also survived by her sisters, Cornell
Smith of Pikeville and Emily Edwards of Smithfield.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Countryside Living
Activity Fund, P.O. Box 335, Pikeville, NC 27863.
Pallbearers will be Worth Overman, Jr., Tommy Herndon, Kenneth
Gardner, Buck Farrior, Troy Lee and Charles Fitch.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at
Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.
