Mary Rachel Edgerton Pate

Goldsboro – Mrs. Mary Rachel Edgerton Pate, 80, died Sunday at her home.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Verus Marvin Edgerton Sr. and Ettie McCullen Edgerton and was married to the late Jarvis Harold Pate, Sr. Mrs. Pate was employed with the Department of Transportation and after retirement, volunteered at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was also a member of Goldsboro Friends Meeting.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery with Jan Green officiating.

Mrs. Pate is survived by her son, Jarvis Harold Pate, Jr. and wife, Kate M. Pate of Raleigh; a sister, Ruby Edgerton White of Rosewood and granddaughters, Kelly Jean Pate and Sarah Edgerton Pate.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Verus Marvin Edgerton, Jr. and a brother-in-law, Jack R. White.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
