Norma Newsome Pate

Goldsboro - Mrs. Norma Newsome Pate, 89, of 473 Stoney Creek Church Rd., died Sunday. A native of Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Bessie Moore Newsome and the widow of Liston Pate. Mrs. Pate was a member of Goldsboro Primitive Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Monday at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Daughtry officiating. Interment will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Surviving: daughters, Melba Gurley and husband Edgar Gurley, Jr. of Goldsboro, Linda Morgan and husband Ron of Potomac Falls, Va., and Brenda Wooten and husband Jimmy of Goldsboro; sister, Mildred Griffin of Florida; brother, Reginald Newsome and wife Eloise of Lucama; grandchildren, Christopher Gurley and wife Michelle, Melanie Bishop and husband Stevie, Gregory Morgan, Kristina Alexander and husband Gregory, and William H. Barfield, IV; great grandchildren, Courtney Bishop, Morgan Gurley, Caroline Gurley, Rachel Rice, Justin Rice, and Kirsten Barfield.

Memorials may be made to the Goldsboro Primitive Baptist Church, in care of Mildred Mercer, 403 S. Best Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.

The family will receive friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of Edgar Jr. and Melba Gurley, 471 Stoney Creek Church Rd., Goldsboro.
