Goldsboro - Mrs. Bertie Ann Pate Peele, 87, of the Kirkwood Community, died Sunday at the Brian Center.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Alcie Johnny Pate and Nancy Ann Lancaster Pate and was married to the late Zebulon Vance Peele. Mrs. Peele was a member of the Saulston United Methodist Church and was a private sitter for many years.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Saulston United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Ward and Rev. Glenn Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Peele is survived by a son, Bobby Peele and wife, Judy of Durham; daughters, Carolyn Howell and husband, George and Jane Smith and husband Billy, all of Goldsboro; brothers, Cleve B. Pate and A.J. Pate of Hollywood, FL; sister, Hazel Johnson of Monroe, LA; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to the Saulston United Methodist Church, 4620 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Billy and Jane Smith, 122 Antioch Road, Goldsboro.
