Welford Freeman Pelt

Eureka – Mr. Welford Freeman Pelt, 73, of 341 Bogue Road, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Robert Monroe Pelt and Mattie Essie Garris Pelt. Mr. Pelt was a farmer in the Eureka community and was a member of Eureka United Methodist Church. He had been an active member of the Eureka Ruritan Club and served on the Board of Directors of the Eureka Fire Department.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Eureka United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Eureka Cemetery.

Mr. Pelt is survived by his wife, Beverly Gray Bogue Pelt; his sons, Jerry Pelt and wife, Judy of Eureka and Denny Pelt of Eureka; his daughters, Sharon Pelt Price and husband, Danny of Eureka and Janet Pelt Grant and husband, Earl of Eureka; a sister, Hester Creech of Snow Hill and Irene Aycock of Goldsboro; a brother, D.J. Pelt of LaGrange; his grandchildren, Brandon Pelt, Beth Pelt, Melissa Price, Joshua Price, and Kayla Grant; and his step-grandchildren, David Grant, Jacob Grant and Becky Beddingfield.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to the Freeman Pelt Memorial Fund, in care of Eureka United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 3240, Eureka, NC 27830.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
