John Raymond "Runt" Reeves


Goldsboro – Mr. John Raymond "Runt" Reeves, 83, of 226 S. Hillcrest Drive, died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Charlie C. Reeves and Laura Parker Reeves. He was a long-time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Mr. Reeves was a veteran of World War II.

A celebration of Raymond’s Life will be Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Morrison and Rev. Robert L. Bame officiating. Entombment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Reeves is survived by his wife of 62 years, Cleo Taylor Reeves; daughters, Sandra Reeves and her friend, Marvin Worley of Goldsboro and Debbie Reeves Davis and husband, Eugene "Clip" Davis; grandchildren, Matt Davis and wife, Kelli of Wilmington, J. Todd Eason of Wilmington, Brian Patrick Davis of Wilmington and Amanda Eason of Goldsboro; a great-granddaughter, Ivey Brooke Wade of Goldsboro; and a brother, Edward Earl Reeves and his wife, Annalean; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Avery Reeves of Goldsboro.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles L. Reeves and Richard I. Reeves.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church Senior Companion Program, 204 E. Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 1407, Greenville, NC 27835.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
