Raymond Edward Ricks

Goldsboro – Mr. Raymond Edward Ricks of 2663 Stevens Mill Road, died
Wednesday at his home.
A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Claude C. Ricks
and Effie Woodard Ricks and was a World War II veteran with the U.S.
Navy having served on U.S. Merrlett in the South Pacific. Mr. Ricks
was a faithful lifetime member of Falling Creek Baptist Church where
he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, and
held many other offices in the church. He was retired from J. P.
Taylor Tobacco Company and was the Stevens Mill area handy man. He
was a charter member of the Woodmen of the World Lodge #481 at
Grantham.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 PM at Falling Creek Baptist
Church with Rev. Ron Varner and Rev. Jean Hood officiating. Burial
will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Hansford T. “Hank” Ricks; a daughter,
Charlotte Jenkins and husband, Don of Goldsboro; a son, Phillip R.
Ricks and wife Beverly of Oak Island; grandchildren, Melissa R.
Carroll and husband, Devin of Raleigh, Staci Ricks of Raleigh, Jason
Jenkins and Alan Jenkins, both of Goldsboro; a great grandson, Alex
Carroll of Raleigh; sisters Mozelle Gurley of Pikeville and
Elizabeth Thigpen of Mount Olive; a brother, Rev. Horace W. Ricks of
Selma.
He was preceded in death by a sister Mildred Ricks Scott and Ruby R.
Sutton and a brother, C.C. Ricks, Jr.
Memorials may be made to the Grantham Volunteer Fire Department,
Hwy. 13 South, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or to Falling Creek Baptist
Church Building Fund, 499 Falling Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, NC
27530.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at
Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his residence.
