Sharon Bass Royal

Goldsboro – Sharon Bass Royal, 60, of Goldsboro died at Kitty Askins
Hospice Center on Monday, February 25, 2008. Mrs. Royal was born on
August 3, 1947, in Fayetteville, North Carolina to the late Robert
Fulton Bass and Lucille Parker Bass. She moved to Goldsboro in 1971
with her husband, Arthur Douglass Royal, Jr.
She was a graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of
Arts in English Education, a Masters in English Education and a
Masters of School Administration. She taught at Goldsboro High
School and Wayne Community College. Prior to her retirement, Mrs.
Royal was the director of Wayne Community College’s Writing center
as well as an English Instructor. Mrs. Royal was a member of St.
Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Goldsboro
Junior Woman’s Club.
Mrs. Royal is preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Royal is
survived by her husband, Arthur Douglass Royal, Jr.; two daughters,
Christine Royal Dubrowsky of Goldsboro and Austin Elaine Royal of
Holly Springs; her son-in-law, James Michael Dubrowsky and her
granddaughter, Elizabeth Moore Dubrowsky; two sisters, Gloria Jean
Howard and her husband Wayne of Fayetteville and Connie Lorraine
Bass of Wilmington; one brother, Robert Gary Bass of Myrtle Beach,
SC; and her sister-in-law, April Royal Bissette and her husband
Edward of Clinton. She is also survived by many aunts and uncles as
well as 3 nieces, 3 nephews, 7 great-nieces and 3 great-nephews.
The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home on Tuesday,
February 26, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The service will be at St.
Stephen’s Episcopal Church on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 2:00
p.m. followed by a private family burial. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 200 N.
James Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or Kitty Askins Hospice Center,
