J. B. Sasser

Grifton – Mr. J.B. Sasser, 80, of 6749 N. Church Street, died Tuesday at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Levi Beverly Sasser and Loma Grantham Sasser and was married to the late Myrtle Evans Sasser. Mr. Sasser was retired from Dupont and had also worked as a carpenter. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Grifton, where he had served as a deacon. Mr. Sasser was a Navy veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 12 Noon at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Hackworth officiating . Burial will follow in the Pilkington Cemetery in Pine Level.

Mr. Sasser is survived by his daughters, Kaye Everett and husband Bill of Ayden and Gail Sabino and husband Jim of Raleigh; three grandchildren, Jessica Everett Wahler, Jereme Lovelace and Torie Mae Sabino, all of Raleigh; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 until 9 PM at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
