Maxine Whaley Sasser

Goldsboro – Maxine Whaley Sasser, 64, went to be with her Lord on
Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center
surrounded by her family.
Maxine was born in Wayne County on October 23, 1943 to Christine
Davis Whaley of Pikeville and the late Owen Franklin Whaley. Maxine
was in the first graduating class from Charles B. Aycock in 1962.
She graduated from Rex Hospital School Of Nursing in 1965, and East
Carolina University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Nursing. Maxine had worked in both management and operations for
Long Term Care Nursing Homes. She was a faithful member of Rosewood
First Baptist Church for forty years, and was a member of the
Gleaner Sunday School Class.
A service to celebrate Maxine’s life will be 5 P. M. Sunday,
February 24, 2008 at Rosewood First Baptist Church with Rev. Larry
Bostian and Rev. Vernon Braswell officiating. Interment will be
11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2008 at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
In addition to her mother, Maxine is survived by her faithful
husband of forty-three years, Jasper Glenn Sasser; her son, Timothy
Owen Sasser and wife, Shari of Raleigh; her daughter, Kelly Sasser
Jones and husband, Claude “Pete” Jones, IV of Princeton;
grandchildren, Melanie Lynn Sasser, Timothy Glenn Sasser, Michaela
Glen Smith, Cody Lee Mitchell, Summer Gray Jones and Davis Patrick
Jones; her brother, Michael Owen Whaley and wife, Dorothy of
Goldsboro.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Building Fund at
Rosewood First Baptist Church, 562 Hwy. 581 South, Goldsboro, NC
27530 or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Dr.,
Goldsboro, N. C. 27534.
The family will receive friends Sunday beginning at 6 P. M. in the
family life center at Rosewood First Baptist Church and other times
at her home, 434 Friendly Drive, in the Rosewood community. |
