Hazel Ellis Shirley

Hazel Ellis Shirley formerly of Kirkwood Retirement Center of Goldsboro, died on Wednesday, October 7th at Big Elm Nursing Home in Kannapolis, NC following a period of declining health.

Born November 24, l908 in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Katie Ellis and wife of John B Shirley of Snow Hill, NC.

Survivors includes two sons Benjamin E. Ellis of Durham, John B. Shirley of LaGrange; two daughters, Marie Garver and Hilda Pittman of Kannapolis, NC. Seven Grandchildren, Keith Garver of Kannapolis, William Pittman of Winston-Salem, John Pittman of Washington,DC, John B. Shirley of Pikeville, William Benjie Shirley of Greensboro, Jennifer Pittman of Kannapolis, and Christy Bates of Greenville, NC and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to the Hertiage Bible College, P.O. Box 1628, Dunn, NC.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
