Alton Glenn Smith, Sr

Goldsboro – Mr. Alton Glenn Smith, Sr., 83, of 2956 U.S. Hwy. 70 West, died Monday at Wilson Medical Center.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Albert J. Smith and Cora Rose Smith. Mr. Smith was retired farmer in the Rosewood Community and was the former owner of Happy House Gift Shop.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Earl Dulaney officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ethel Edwards Smith; his daughter, Diane Smith Morgan and husband, Norman of New London; a son, Alton Glenn Smith Jr. of Goldsboro; sisters, Rebecca Thompson and Luta Belle Lawrence of Goldsboro and Walena Kornegay of Mount Olive; a brother, Walton Smith of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a sister, Rosa Lee Rhodes and a brother, Albert Jessie Smith.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his residence.
