Robert Miller Smith

Goldsboro – Robert Miller Smith, 70, of SunBridge Care, Mount Olive, died March 3, 2003, at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late James N. Smith and Annie Battle Miller Smith. He was preceded in death by a brother, James N. Smith, Jr. He is survived by his step-mother, Marjorie S. Smith; a sister, Marjorie S. Clark; a brother, Henry C. Smith, all of Goldsboro; sisters, Ann S. Hall of Raleigh, NC and Jane S. Morgan of Spartanburg, SC; and a brother, Kempton S. Smith of Richmond, Virginia.

He graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1951, where he was a member of the varsity football team, and from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1956. He served in the N.C. National Guard 1951-1953.

He was an avid sports fan and an ardent lover of animals.

He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. A graveside service will be conducted by Dr. Billy Seate on Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Willowdale Cemetery.
