THERON SMITH


Dudley - Theron James Smith, 80, of 138 Sleepy Creek Rd., died Tuesday at Britthaven Nursing Home.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late W.H. Smith and Esther Davis Smith.  Mr. Smith was the owner and operator of Theron J. Smith Vending for 37 years and the Village Restaurant in Dudley for 11 years.  A World War II veteran, he was a radio dispatcher with the United States Air Force.  Mr. Smith was a member of the Wayne Shrine Club, where he was a Thirty-Second Degree Mason and was a member of Wayne Masonic Lodge #208 A.F.&A.M.  He was also a member and Elder of Dudley Christian Church.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Alan Sharpe officiating.  Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife, Lorrie Forehand Smith; brothers, Lyman Smith and wife, Grace and Aaron Smith and wife, Sally all of Dudley and Carlton "Chip" Smith and wife, Jeannette of Magnolia; 6 nephews and 6 nieces.

He was preceded in death by brothers, William "Bill" Smith, Rudolph Smith and Garland Smith.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Seymour
Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
