Ernest Ashby Taylor, Jr.

Faison – Mr. Ernest Ashby Taylor, Jr., 90, died Monday at Guardian
Care in Kenansville.
A native of Duplin County, he was the son of the late Ernest Taylor,
Sr. and Nanette Garber Taylor and was married to the late Rita Mae
Taylor. Mr. Taylor retired as a mechanic and land clearer for his
company, Ernest Taylor Construction. An avid fisherman and lover of
pets, he was a charter member of Faison United Methodist Church and
was the first Fire Chief for the Faison Fire Department.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Faison United
Methodist Church with Rev. Chad Pullen officiating. Burial will
follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his daughter, Verna Taylor of Faison; his
granddaughter, Amy McCallum; his great-granddaughters, Kirby
McCallum and Leah McCallum; his caregivers, Edna Conyers and Sandra
Torrans; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Merle Strowd and Maxine
Taylor; his grandson, William Christopher Kalmar and his
great-grandson, Christopher Grey McCallum,
Members of the Faison Fire Department and Rescue Squad will serve as
honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour
