Elizabeth Ricks Thigpen

Mount Olive – Mrs. Elizabeth “Lib” Ricks Thigpen, 73, of 2057 O’Berry Road, died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Claude Clarence Ricks and Effie Woodard Ricks. Mrs. Thigpen was an avid gardener and was a member of the Five Points Home Extension Club. Mrs. Thigpen is a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church and the Pomona Grange.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Falling Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Varner officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Patterson and husband, Billy of Mount Olive, Miriam Horne and husband, Buddy of Wade, NC and Grace Thigpen of Autryville; a son, Stacy Aldine Thigpen, Jr. and wife, Sheila of Mount Olive; a sister, Mozelle Gurley of Pikeville; a brother, Rev. Horace W. Ricks of Selma; grandchildren, Crystal Lee and husband, David, Woody Patterson and wife, Melissa, Alicia Thigpen, Amanda Thigpen, Laura Thigpen, Ryan Sloan, Stephen Sloan, and Kevin Sloan; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred R. Scott and Ruby R. Sutton and her brothers, C.C. Ricks, Jr. and Raymond Ricks and her grandson, Gary Overman.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, 1971 O’Berry Road, Mount Olive, NC 28365.
