Jesse Massey Thompson

Goldsboro – Mr. Jesse Massey Thompson, 77, of 2009 Rose Street, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Johnston County, he was the son of the late Foy H. Thompson and Jessie Massey Thompson. Mr. Thompson retired from the United States Postal Service with 28 years of service and served in the United States Army during World War II. While serving his country in Europe, he was a Combat Medic for the Infantry Division. Mr. Thompson was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge #112 A.F. & A.M. and the Goldsboro Elks Lodge #139 B.P.O.E.

Graveside services with army military honors will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Earl Dulaney officiating.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Catherine Oliver Thompson; and his daughter, Catherine Ann Thompson Yount and husband, Eric of Raleigh.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
