Joseph Dewey Thompson

Dudley – TSGT (Retired) United States Air Force Joseph Dewey Thompson, 67, of 1889 Old Mount Olive Highway, died Thursday at his home.

A native of Rockfish, NC, he was the son of the late Benjamin Glenn Thompson and Mary Davis Thompson. Mr. Thompson served in the United States Air Force for 21 years.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Alan Sharpe officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with full military honors.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Rosalie Cox Dexter Thompson; daughter, Helen Corbett and husband, Cornelius of Myrtle Beach, SC; a son, Joseph Peele and wife, Debbie of Charleston, SC; step-children, Douglas Dexter and wife, Brenda, Mark Dexter and wife, Janice, Pat Ovalle and husband, Rey, Paul Dexter and wife, Mary, Silas Dexter, Lee Dexter, Barbara Head and Jerry Hinnant; sisters, Ann Lovett and Louetta Turner, both of Asheboro; a foster son, James Brogden; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, P. O. Box 1407, Greenville, NC 27835.

The family will receive friends Friday at Seymour Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. and other times at the residence.
