Leonard Lee Thompson, Jr.

Mr. Leonard Lee “Moon” Thompson, Jr., fought a courageous battle with cancer for the past year and died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. A native of Lenoir County, he was the son of the late Leonard Lee Thompson, Sr. and Eunice Loftin Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the United States Army.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Virgil Whitehurst officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange.

Surviving: wife, Diane Mozingo Thompson; daughter, Teresa T. Hill of Goldsboro; sons, Danny Mozingo and wife Angela of La Grange and Dennis Thompson of Sylva, N. C.; sisters, Edna Alphin of Kinston and Marie Willson of Raleigh; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Scott Thompson.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his son, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Mozingo, 280 LaGrange Rd., La Grange.
