Mary Evelyn Thompson

Goldsboro – Miss Mary Evelyn Thompson, of Goldsboro, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, Miss Thompson was preceded in death by her parents, Carrie Morgan Thompson and J.C. Thompson. Miss Thompson was a graduate of East Carolina Teachers College and taught for many years in the Goldsboro Public School System. She was an avid bridge player and was an accomplished musician. For many years while living in the Rosewood Community, Miss Thompson was the pianist at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, with Rev. Charles Morrison and Rev. Bob Bame officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home from 1- 2 p.m.

She is survived by a cousin, R.G. Poole, Jr. of Cary and several other cousins. Mrs. Thompson is also survived by her special neighbors, Joyce and Donald Sauls of Goldsboro and Wade McGee of Goldsboro.
