Paul Kenneth Tierney

Goldsboro – Paul Kenneth Tierney, 80, of 200 Kelliwood Drive, died Tuesday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Paul was born on December 27, 1922, in Boston, Massachusetts. He proudly served in the United States Navy in World War II and the Korean War in the Pacific. He also worked for the U.S. Postal System in Boston.

For those who knew him, Paul will be remembered as a loving, generous, caring and compassionate man. He never met a stranger and was loved by all.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Willliam Ruhl, O.S.F.S. presiding. Burial with military honors will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Paul devoted his life to God, his wife, Jackie Connelly Tierney and their children; his daughters, Kathleen Bryan and husband Jack of Bowie, MD and Madalyn Lambert and husband Richard of Goldsboro; his sons, Richard Tierney and wife Anne of Dorchester, MA, Gerard Tierney and wife Kimberly of New Bedford, MA, Kevin Tierney and wife Linda of Pembroke, MA and Shawn Tierney and wife Carol of Weymouth, MA; his brother, Walter Tierney and wife Dawn of Brookfield, NH and his sister, Eleanor Hardin of Saratoga Springs, NY; eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his sons, Paul K. Tierney Jr. and Grant M. Tierney and a granddaughter, Nicole Tierney.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 1000 N. Jefferson Ave., Goldsboro, NC 27530.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
