Patricia Hughes Turnage
Goldsboro - Patricia Hughes Turnage, 77, of 1805 E. Mulberry Street,
died peacefully at her home on Thursday following an extended
illness.
Mrs. Turnage was from Bluefield, West Virginia and was the daughter
of the late Dr. Charles Randolph and Mary Maurice Hughes. She
attended Hollins College in Roanoke, VA and was graduated from the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a member
of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, President of Women's Government Association
and was active in numerous campus organizations.
After her marriage to Harvey
Turnage, she devoted her life to family, friends, church and
charitable organizations in Atlanta. In 1971, Patty and Harvey
moved to Goldsboro and further enhanced their lives with family and
new friends.
Mrs. Turnage is survived by her husband, Harvey W. Turnage, Jr.;
son, Harvey W. Turnage, III and wife, Dianne of Goldsboro; daughter,
Patricia Turnage Calloway and husband, Donald R. Calloway of
Alexandria, VA; two grandsons, Christopher Hughes Calloway and
Charles Crawford Calloway; brother, Charles Randolph Hughes, Jr. and
wife, Janet of Jacksonville Beach, FL; aunt, Mable Hughes of Callao,
VA; nieces, Debbie Spracher of Blacksburg, VA and Cynthia Canning of
Raleigh and a sister-in-law, Betty Lou Howard of Greenville.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral
Home Chapel with Dr. James McChesney officiating. Graveside
services will follow at 4:00 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery in
Greenville, NC. The family will receive friends from 5:00 -
7:00 p.m. Saturday at the residence.
