Ethel Williams Twiford


Fayetteville – Mrs. Ethel Williams Twiford, 90, formerly of Goldsboro died Tuesday at Heritage Suites in Fayetteville.

A native of Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas S. Williams and Nancy Case Williams and was married to the late Clement Wake Twiford. Mrs. Twiford was a retired teacher and guidance counselor with the Goldsboro City School System. She was a member Delta Kappa Gamma, NCAE, NCRSP, and AARP. Mrs. Twiford enjoyed gardening and was a member of the African Violet Society of America, Aesneriad Saintpaulia Society, and the Dixie African Violet Society. She also devoted her time to the Wayne County Mental Health Association, Wayne County Historical Association, Old Dobbs Genealogical Society and the Henderson County Genealogical Society.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Morrison and Rev. Bob Bame officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Mrs. Twiford is survived by her son, Clement Williams Twiford of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Dallas C. Twiford of Oviedo, FL and Mrs. Michael T. O’Brien of Duluth, Georgia; four great-grandchildren and a brother, James T. Williams of Lorton, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to the Emma Anderson Memorial Chapel, P. O. Box 3071, Topsail Beach, NC 28445 or to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 until 9 PM at Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Goldsboro, NC.
