Gouldia Irene Summerlin Underwood
 Goldsboro – Mrs. Gouldia Irene Summerlin Underwood, 89, of 1803 O’Berry Center Road, died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Edd Summerlin and Nettie Taylor Summerlin and was married to the late Luther Rodney Underwood. Mrs. Underwood was a retired Health Care Technician with O’Berry Center and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Sixty Upper’s. She was also a member of the Rosewood Home Extension Club and the Mountain Toppers.
Graveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery with Dr. Billy Seate and Rev. Robert Bame, of St. Paul United Methodist Church and Rev. Robert Goff, of Oak Forest Road Church of Christ, officiating.
Mrs. Underwood is survived by her daughters, Lois U. Capps of Goldsboro and Connie U. Stenquist of Nashville, TN; a son, Eddie Underwood and wife, Dianne of Goldsboro; grandchildren, John Rodney Capps and wife, Barbie, Paul Edward Underwood, Jacob H. Benton and wife, Penny, Jason D. Benton and Brandy M. Stenquist; great-grandchildren, Casie Capps, Christy Capps, Joshua Benton, Jessica Benton, Julia Benton and Peyton Benton; and special friend and neighbor, Ollie Gray Sasser.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the St. Paul United Methodist Church Senior Companion Fund, 204 E. Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
