Bernice S. Ward

Goldsboro – Mrs. Bernice S. Ward, 92, died Friday morning at the Brian Center.

A native of Snow Hill, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Sylivant and Ida Holmes Sylivant and was the widow of Alton J. Ward. Mrs. Ward and her late husband owned and operated Ward Vending Company in Goldsboro for many years. She graduated from the East Carolina Teachers College and taught the first grade. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with Dr. Billy Seate and Rev. Robert Bame officiating.

Mrs. Ward is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Harris and husband Jerry of LaGrange and a son, Al Ward, Jr. and wife Martha of Greenville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

The family will greet friends Saturday from 1-2:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
