Jimmy K. Washam

– Mr. Jimmy K Washam, 66, of 284 Combs Road, died Wednesday at his
home.
A native of Graves County, Kentucky, Mr. Washam was the son of the
late John Terry Washam and Cluster Jo Lawrence Washam. For 18 years,
he was a broadcaster with WGBR Radio Station and was known as “Jim
Kent.” Mr. Washam was an ordained minister and had served 11 years
as a chaplain for Wayne Memorial Hospital. He had worked with
American General Insurance Company and had taught at Wayne Community
College for 2 years. Mr. Washam was a member of New Life Baptist
Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Turbyfill and Rev. Dade Sherman
officiating. Interment will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Pikeville
Cemetery.
Mr. Washam is survived by his wife, Betty Lee Washam; his sons,
James Kenneth Washam and wife, Lynnette of Fremont, Terry Lee Washam
of Raleigh, William Donald Washam of Greensboro and Clifford Earl
Washam and wife, Melissa of Charlottesville, VA; his sisters, Carol
Walker of Boaz, KY and Ginger Washam of Boaz, KY; five
grandchildren, Tracy Owens, Trina Owens, Tia Owens, Amanda Allison,
Jessica Washam and Anthony Washam; and his great-granddaughter,
Julia Beth Allison.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to New Life Baptist
Church Building Fund, 800 S. Harding Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
The family will greet friends Sunday following the service at
Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his residence.
