Clara Denning Weaver


Clara Denning Weaver, 95, widow of Gertha Weaver of Grantham, died early Sunday morning, April 7, 2002. Her husband died on November 12, 1974.

Born on June 23, 1906, she was a daughter of Joel and Vivian Keene Denning of Grantham. She was a member of Selah Christian Church, where she taught the Adult Sunday School Class during the 1950’s.

Surviving are her children; Glenn Weaver and his wife Hilda of Washington, NC, Doris Weaver of Grantham, Hazel W. Ballard and her husband Hugh of Stafford, VA, Ralph Weaver and his wife Dorothy of Grantham, Carl Weaver and his wife Faye of Creedmoor, Roy Weaver and his wife Anita of Fayetteville, Donald and his wife Joyce Weaver of Kentucky, James Weaver and his wife Beverly of Grantham, Charles Weaver and his wife Annette of Grantham, and Russell Weaver of Grantham; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Robert Denning of Warrenton, VA and Kenneth Denning of Strange Creek, WV, and two sisters, Peggy Dunlap of Falls Church VA and Louise Britt of Smithfield.

Mrs. Weaver was predeeded in death by a son, Howard Wright Weaver, brothers Wash Denning, Leon Denning, David Denning, John Denning, Jack Denning and sisters Annie Lee Denning Cox, Ruth Denning Outlaw and Martha Denning Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 PM from Selah Christian Church. The Rev. Jack Musick and Rev. Mike Weaver will officiate. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Selah Christian Church.

The family will receive friends Monday at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and other times at the residence.
