Joyce Pate Herring Webber
 Goldsboro – Mrs. Joyce Pate Herring Webber, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday.
A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Ezra Pate and Mary Gardner Pate. Mrs. Webber was a graduate of Goldsboro High School, where she was a member of the Honor Society and served as a Marshall. She was also a graduate of Guilford College in Greensboro, and while there was selected as a student of Who’s Who Among College Students. After graduation, Mrs. Webber taught Second Grade at Edgewood School and later taught Kindergarten at Madison Avenue Baptist Church.
Mrs. Webber was a member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was the former director of the children’s church program. She was a member of the United Methodist Women of Daniels Memorial and had served as president for two years. She also had served as an officer for 8 years with the District United Methodist Women and was a Lay Speaker for the District and had spoke at several of the local churches in Goldsboro.
Mrs. Webber was a former member of Goldsboro Friends Meeting and was presently attending New Hope Friends Meeting. She was also an active member of the Goldsboro Women’s Club and the New Hope Extension Homemakers.
Mrs. Webber is survived by her husband, J. Harold Webber of Goldsboro; two daughters, Rebekah Herring Haslett and husband John of Wake Forest and Patricia Herring DeForest and husband Al of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Dani Haslett, John Haslett, Paul DeForest, Rebekah DeForest, Alison D. Wise and husband, Andy and A.J. DeForest; and a great-grandchild, Morgan Wise; her sisters, Sarah Jane Pate Wilson and husband, Bob of Clemmons and Mary Gardner Pate Edgerton of Clinton. She is also survived by her acquired family, Peggy Webber Kearney and husband, Larry of Goldsboro, James Harold (Jimmy) Webber, Jr. and wife Patricia of Goldsboro and Robert L. Webber and wife, Ela of Goldsboro; and her step-grandchildren, Jay Webber, David Webber, Joseph Webber, Dana Webber, Lee Webber, Jennifer Kearney and Natasha Grygoryeva.
Mrs. Webber was preceded in death by her husband, W. Paul Herring.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. T.R. Miller and Bill Garner officiating. A private family burial will be at Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 929 Old 111 Hwy., Goldsboro.
