Harriet S. Wessell, 77, died Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.


A native of New Hanover County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur E. Shooter and Mary Elizabeth Shooter. Mrs. Wessell was retired from Wayne Community College.


Graveside services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington with Rev. Rachel Connelly officiating.


Mrs. Wessell is survived by a daughter, Elise W. Beall and her husband, Rusty; sons, Bo Wessell III and wife, Miriam; Jere Wessell and wife, Zennie and Eddie Wessell and wife, Anne; and seven grandchildren, Andrea Wessell, Mari-Margaret Wessell, Bryan Wessell, Kathryn Wessell, Tyler Wessell, Amanda Wessell and Megan Beall


She was preceded in death by a son, Phil Wessell.
