Bobbie Ernest Wood

– SSgt. Bobbie Ernest Wood, Retired U.S.A.F., 71, went to be with
the Lord on Friday, April 11, 2008 at Wayne Memorial Hospital
surrounded by his family.
Bobbie was born in Braxton County, West Virginia on February 28,
1937 to the late Brasil Wood and Lela Jackson Wood. He served his
country in the United States Air Force with 20 years of service.
Bobbie had also retired from civil service work at Seymour Johnson
Air Force Base. He was an avid fisherman and faithful member of
Westwood United Methodist Church, where he sang in the church choir.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Westwood United
Methodist Church with Rev. Rufus Butner officiating. Burial will
follow in Wayne Memorial Park with full military honors.
A loving husband, father, and brother, Bobbie leaves to cherish his
memory: his wife, Lora Long Wood; his children, Robbin Curtis and
husband, Joe of Salisbury and Bobbie Wood, Jr. of the home; and his
sister, Wanda Wood Flint of West Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son,
Jeffrey Lynn Wood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westwood United
Methodist Church, 130 Short Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at
Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home, 108 Tarklin Drive,
Goldsboro, NC.
